A collection of non-fiction books, largely comprising hardcovers with dust jackets, focusing on architectural history, regional British history, and photography. The group includes several volumes from the Penguin Books Art and Architecture series, such as Carolingian and Romanesque Architecture 800-1200 by Kenneth John Conant, Art and Architecture in France 1500-1700 by Anthony Blunt, Early Christian and Byzantine Architecture by Richard Krautheimer, and Architecture in Britain 1530-1830 by John Summerson. Notable photography monographs include a large-format edition of Magnum Magnum edited by Brigitte Lardinois, published by Thames and Hudson, alongside Goodbye Baby and Amen by David Bailey and Peter Evans, and Henri Cartier-Bresson: The Modern Century by Peter Galassi. Regional interest titles include Victorian Plymouth by Chris Robinson and two copies of Lost London by Philip Davies. Other subjects include astronomical works such as Hubble by Giles Sparrow and architectural references like The English Town by Mark Girouard, published by Yale University Press. This lot comprises the books only; the wooden shelving units shown in the images are not included.
Condition report:
The books are in used secondary-market condition with visible shelf-wear across the collection. Several dust jackets exhibit scuffing and creasing at the edges, with notable sun-fading to the spines of the Magnum Magnum and Goodbye Baby and Amen volumes. The four Penguin architecture volumes show significant rubbing and edge wear to the black cloth boards, lacking their original dust jackets. The spine of the Dictionary of British Sculptors is heavily faded and the cloth binding appears worn. The Nikon Compendium softcover shows corner curling and edge wear. Internally the volumes appear complete, though they have not been inspected for annotations, foxing, or ownership inscriptions.
