Sold for: £9
A collection of cut crystal and coloured glassware featuring various functional and decorative pieces. The lot includes an assortment of cut crystal, characterised by traditional starburst and cross-hatched patterns, notably a large circular bowl with deep geometric cutting and three integral feet, and two rectangular lidded trinket boxes with diamond-cut motifs. Glassware includes a set of heavy-bottomed tumblers with vertical cuts, several champagne or dessert coupes with etched grape and leaf designs, and a large dark blue glass brandy balloon on a clear stem. Two boat-shaped bowls in deep cobalt blue glass are present, one of which contains a clear glass or stone egg-shaped object. Other items include a pair of white milk glass egg cups, a frosted glass bowl, a small iridescent vase with a twisted form, and a glass apothecary-style jar filled with seashells. A small desk clock is set within a fan-shaped cut crystal base, featuring a white dial with black Roman numerals; the dial is marked QUARTZ and bears the name Old World. The lot is completed by a small glass jar with an embossed silver-tone metal scrollwork lid, a dish of multi-coloured glass pebbles, and a spoon and cheese knife with faceted glass-style handles.
Condition report:
The collection appears generally well-maintained. The large footed crystal bowl shows several small chips or flea bites to the sharp edges of the cut decoration (photo 1). The seashells within the jar show natural variation and some dust accumulation (photo 3). The iridescent vase and blue glass pieces appear free from visible cracks or major abrasions. The metal components, including the salt shaker tops and the lidded jar, show minor surface tarnishing consistent with age.
