A collection of erotic literature and illustrated books, primarily hardbound editions with some paperbacks. The group includes a three-volume set of Casanova: History of My Life, featuring volumes 1 & 2 (two copies) and 3 & 4, published by Johns Hopkins University Press. These volumes are designed with spines that form a composite illustration of a human form when shelved together. The collection further includes several titles published by The Erotic Print Society (EPS), including The Illustrative Art of Lynn Paula Russell in a green cloth-bound format, A Sexual Odyssey by Lynn Paula Russell, The Lost Drawings by Tom Poulton edited by A.J. Maclean, The Devil’s Whisper by Henri Breton with images by Mario Tauzin, and Eros & Thanatos by Klaus Böttger. Two red-jacketed hardcovers from The Scarlet Library are present: The Way of a Man with a Maid featuring illustrations by Tim Major, and Summer in the Country by Auguste Poulet-Malassis with illustrations by Adrian George. The assortment is completed by Venus in India by Charles Devereux, a paperback biography titled Casanova by John Masters published by Cardinal, and a paperback titled The Illustrated Book of Stockings. The EPS volumes feature printed text on the spines and covers identifying the publisher and respective artists.
Condition report:
The collection is in generally good condition with signs of shelf wear consistent with handling. Light bumping and rubbing are visible to the corners and spine ends of the hardcover dust jackets (photo 1). The paperback copy of Casanova shows noticeable toning and yellowing to the spine and page edges (photo 1). The Illustrated Book of Stockings paperback shows minor creasing to the cover edges (photo 1). No significant tearing, staining, or internal damage is visible from the provided images.
