A collection of vintage British topographical maps and guides, primarily featuring the Bartholomew Half-Inch Map Series. This lot comprises a diverse assortment of folded paper and cloth-backed maps alongside a pocket-sized guide to London. The collection includes Bartholomew maps for Galloway (No. 37), Wye Valley (No. 13), Solway Firth (No. 38), Mid Wales (No. 22), and South Devon (No. 4). These maps are printed with contoured details of Great Britain and feature varying cover designs in blue and red/orange. Publication details for these items read Printed and published in Great Britain by John Bartholomew and Son Limited, Edinburgh. Also included is a cloth-bound volume titled Bacon’s Up To Date Atlas and Guide to London with Photo Views, published by G.W. Bacon and Co. Ltd., 127 Strand, London. The bulk of the collection consists of approximately 40 to 50 additional maps stored on shelving, featuring spines marked for Bartholomew, Geographia, and Oxford, covering regions such as Cardigan and North Devon. Several items bear pre-decimal price markings such as 4s and 6s, as well as decimal markings including 30p.

Condition report:

The collection is in used vintage condition with various signs of age and wear. The Bacon\'s London guide shows significant darkening and staining to the dark grey cloth boards, with fraying and loss to the spine and edges (photo 2). The folded paper maps exhibit creasing, edge wear, and occasional small tears at the fold intersections (photo 1). The cloth-backed maps show surface soiling and age-related toning to the covers, though they remain structurally sound. The larger group of maps on the shelf shows typical shelf wear and foxing to the exposed spines (photo 1).
