A collection of large format illustrated books and monographs covering art, cartography, and natural history. The group includes The Times Comprehensive Atlas of the World, Tenth Edition, featuring a distinctive black and white horizontally banded cover. Also present is Forgotten Masters: Indian Painting for the East India Company, edited by William Dalrymple, which is a hardcover volume with a dust jacket featuring a crane illustration. The collection further comprises Audubon and the Birds of America by John James Audubon, presented in a hardcover binding with a dust jacket depicting two owls. The final volume is a landscape format edition of The Age of the Grand Tour, featuring text by Anthony Burgess and Francis Haskell, with a pictorial dust jacket showing a view of the Piazza Navona, Rome. These volumes are predominantly hardcover editions with printed dust jackets, containing high-quality reproductions and academic text.
Condition report:
The collection shows varying degrees of shelf wear throughout. The Age of the Grand Tour exhibits significant damage to the dust jacket, including a large vertical tear and paper loss along the spine edge, with further fraying and bumping to the corners (photo 1). The dust jacket for Audubon and the Birds of America shows light creasing and edge wear. The Times Atlas and Forgotten Masters appear in generally good condition, though the white surfaces of the Atlas show minor surface marks consistent with handling. No internal inscriptions or library markings are visible in the photographs.
