A collection of elephant figurines and themed functional objects in various materials, including glazed ceramic, wood, and shell-work. The group comprises multiple glazed ceramic pieces: a pair of elephants walking on green foliage bases with brown and amber bodies; a large white elephant with a hand-painted floral design in orange, green, and blue on its back; two grey glazed planters shaped as trumpeting elephants; and a small white glazed figure. The collection also includes a set of three graduated black matte-finished upright elephants featuring a blue and white patterned decorative band across their backs. Further ceramic items include two larger elephant-shaped planters or vases with a black finish. A single dark-stained wooden elephant bookend is present, alongside a modern, stylised black polished figurine. Three shell-work figurines are included, featuring forms constructed from various small seashells, including cowries and scallops, mounted on sand-textured bases. No maker’s marks, factory backstamps, or legible signatures are visible on the exterior surfaces of the items.
Condition report:
The collection shows general surface dust and minor shelf wear consistent with age and use. One black ceramic planter in the back row shows significant surface wear and white scuff marks with paint loss on the ear and body (photo 1). The shell-work figurines exhibit some loose or missing sand on the textured bases (photo 2). No major structural cracks, chips to the glaze, or repairs are immediately evident from the provided angles.
