A collection of vintage and modern sewing and haberdashery supplies presented in two plastic storage containers and various smaller tubs. The lot includes an assortment of approximately 45 thread spools in various colours and materials, featuring labels for Sylko, Clark’s Anchor Extra Strong, Coats Prima, and Gütermann. One plastic organiser contains twenty-five pre-wound metal bobbins with various thread colours. Tooling includes a pair of scissors with orange handles marked Wilkinson Sword Made in England, a pair of all-metal embroidery scissors, and a wooden darning mushroom.
Hand-sewing and embroidery needles are present in original paper packaging, including examples marked Milward and Burlington. Mending materials include vintage wools on cardboard cards marked Chadwick’s and Star, alongside a large bag of loose white, blue, and brown knitting yarn. Also included are two retractable tape measures, a set of knitting needles, several thimbles including a silver-tone metal example, and a packaged personal alarm by Olson. Storage containers include a vintage plastic tub with a printed label for Kraft Special Soft Margarine 1kg, which contains a small brass padlock. A small clear box contains grey knitted wristbands marked Sea-Band.
Condition report:
Items are in mixed, used condition consistent with domestic sewing use. The Wilkinson Sword scissors show visible surface oxidation to the blades (photo 2). Several thread spools have loose ends and are part-used (photo 3). Vintage paper packaging for needles and mending yarns shows signs of foxing, staining, and edge wear (photo 2). The plastic storage containers and the Kraft margarine tub exhibit surface scuffing and scratches (photo 1). The metal bobbins and thimbles appear in functional condition.
