A collection of costume brooches and pins featuring a variety of styles, materials, and commemorative designs. The lot includes a silver-tone butterfly brooch pavé-set with turquoise-coloured glass stones in a black velvet presentation case. The interior lid bears a gold-tone printed mark reading by Tara Ware of Dublin MADE IN IRELAND. A second silver-tone floral spray brooch set with light and dark blue faceted glass stones is housed in a white textured case with a purple lining, the interior lid printed in gold-tone with a crown motif and the name ADONIS.
The assortment further includes a small cardboard box containing four enamel pins: two shield-shaped examples inscribed STEIERMARK and SALZBURG, a circular pin with a target motif, and a bar pin. The unboxed items comprise shell and jasperware style cameos, a large gold-tone ginkgo leaf, Celtic style openwork brooches set with various cabochons, and a circular enamel badge featuring a pithead wheel inscribed BEVIN BOY VETERAN. Novelty pieces include a rhinestone-encrusted peacock, a pin featuring a small furred animal paw mounted with an orange glass stone, and several stick pins. Construction materials across the group include base metals with gold and silver-tone plating, enamel, glass rhinestones, and faux pearls.
Condition report:
The items are generally in good vintage condition. The blue butterfly brooch in the Tara Ware case shows several missing turquoise-coloured stones (photo 2). Notable tarnishing and wear to the gold-tone plating are visible on the large ginkgo leaf and the silver-tone floral sprays (photo 4). The fur on the animal paw pin appears matted (photo 4). The presentation cases show light shelf wear to the exteriors (photo 1). One stick pin appears slightly bent (photo 3).
