A collection of costume jewellery brooches and pins featuring a variety of mid-20th-century styles and materials. The lot includes a gold-tone foliate spray brooch set with white faux pearls, housed in a brown presentation box. The interior lid of the box is printed with a gold-tone logo featuring the letters RW beside a stylized circular device. The assortment also comprises a modernist style silver-tone brooch with a conical base and radiating wire terminals tipped with black and silver-tone beads, an articulated silver-tone floral spray with a ribbon bow, and a gold-tone rose brooch accented with light pink and white enamel and red glass rhinestones. Other pieces include a square layered brooch set with faceted amber and honey-coloured rhinestones, a silver-tone circular swirl pin with blue and purple cabochons, and an elongated gold-tone brooch set with multi-coloured glass stones. The group is completed by a wire-wrapped purple bead wreath, a silver-tone marcasite and enamel plume brooch with a black central cabochon, and several smaller floral and starburst designs featuring faux pearls and pastel-toned stones. The pieces utilise various pin-back mechanisms including C-clasps and safety rollers.
Condition report:
The collection is in good vintage condition with wear consistent with age. There is visible tarnishing to the silver-tone metal surfaces, particularly on the swirl and plume brooches (photo 3). Minor plating loss and surface scratching are present on the gold-tone items. The enamel on the rose brooch shows slight thinning or wear at the petal edges (photo 2). All stones and faux pearls appear to be present and secure in their settings. The presentation box for the RW brooch shows minor scuffing to the exterior corners and edges (photo 1).
