This lot comprises a mid-century modern dining suite featuring a refectory style extension table and a set of four matching spindle back chairs. The table is constructed from oak with a dark stained finish, featuring a rectangular plank style top with a bordered edge. The top is supported by a heavy trestle base with shaped uprights and a central stretcher secured by exposed wooden pegs. The table includes two pull-out extension leaves. The set of four chairs are designed in a Windsor influenced style, each featuring a tall back with seven tapering spindles, a curved crest rail, and a solid round seat supported by four splayed and tapered legs. Each chair is fitted with a detachable seat cushion upholstered in a floral tapestry style fabric. The underside of one chair seat bears a rectangular impressed mark containing a central heart symbol flanked by the letters B S and K B, above the numbers 1960 and 2056. A small rectangular gold foil label is also present on the underside of the seat, reading MADE IN ENGLAND in green text above a crown device. The set is matched in design and finish.

Condition report:

The suite shows significant signs of use and age throughout. The tabletop finish exhibits heavy wear, including extensive water staining, fading, and areas of finish loss, particularly visible across the central leaves (photo 3). The edges and corners of the tabletop show scuffing and impact marks (photo 4). The chair frames show wear consistent with age, including finish loss and scuffing to the crest rails (photo 11) and splayed legs. The upholstery on the detachable cushions appears intact, although the foam or padding shows some flattening. The trestle base and stretcher show minor scuffs and marks from use (photo 7).
