A large collection of vintage metalworking tools primarily focused on threading and precision measurement. The lot comprises a significant quantity of threading taps and circular split dies housed in a four-compartment wooden tray, alongside a variety of mechanical hand tools and machinist layout gauges in a grey plastic bin. The wooden tray contains numerous threading taps in various sizes including taper, plug, and bottoming types, together with a small blue-painted tap wrench. The lower right compartment of the tray holds a quantity of circular threading dies, one of which is impressed with the characters 1951.
The associated grey plastic bin contains a large heavy-duty ratchet handle, an adjustable diestock, and a pair of wire strippers featuring red insulated handles. Precision layout tools include several pairs of spring calipers for inside and outside measurement, a surface gauge with a rectangular base, and a scribing tool. Many tools show marks impressed into the shanks or bodies; while several are present, the characters are not clearly legible as specific names at this scale.
Condition report:
The items are in a heavily used, as-found condition consistent with a professional workshop environment. Significant surface oxidation and rust are present across the majority of the metal surfaces in both the wooden tray (photo 3) and the plastic bin (photo 2). The red plastic handles on the wire strippers show heavy staining and wear (photo 2). The wooden tray shows minor scuffs and marks to the timber surface (photo 3). The functional integrity of the cutting edges on the taps and dies cannot be verified from the images.
