Start price: £5

Estimated price: £5 - £10

Buyer's Premium: 20%

Sold for: £14

An Imperial manual portable typewriter featuring a seafoam green metallic finish, housed within a brown textured carrying case. The typewriter body is constructed of metal and is fitted with four rows of circular white keys. A black and silver rectangular badge is applied to the paper table, reading Imperial in a stylised script. The machine includes a silver-tone carriage return lever, a paper scale with black markings, and a red and black ribbon. The rigid carrying case features a brown crinkle-effect finish, a wooden handle, and a chrome-plated locking mechanism with a key inserted. Taped to the interior of the lid is an original instructional paper printed in red and black titled HOW TO FIT A NEW RIBBON, which includes an illustration of the Imperial Good Companion model and text referencing Imperial Agents. A yellow cleaning cloth is also present within the case lid.

Condition report:

The typewriter shows significant surface degradation and white crystalline oxidation across all keycaps (photo 1). The metal body displays minor surface wear consistent with age, while the seafoam green finish remains largely intact. The carrying case exhibits scuffing, scratches, and surface abrasions throughout the brown finish (photo 2). The interior instructional ephemera is present but shows yellowing and creasing, particularly where adhered to the lid (photo 1). The mechanical functionality of the keys and carriage assembly is untested.
