Sold for: £12
A collection of garden edging tiles constructed from red terracotta clay. The tiles feature a decorative scalloped or pie crust top edge, characteristic of Victorian and Edwardian period garden design. The assortment includes nine tiles contained within a burlap carrier bag and two displayed separately. Each piece shows a thick, rectangular profile with a rustic, hand-finished texture. No maker’s marks, stamps, or labels are visible on the exposed surfaces. This lot comprises the tiles and burlap bag only; the books and other interior items shown in the images are not included.
Condition report:
The tiles are in reclaimed condition with evidence of significant weathering consistent with long-term outdoor use and salvage. Adhering soil, organic debris, and moss are visible across the surfaces and within the crevices of the scalloped edges. There are numerous small chips and nibbles to the decorative tops and corners. One tile displayed outside the bag shows a distinct surface deposit or possible hairline fracture near the centre.
