A tabletop or wall-hanging easel-back mirror featuring a wide, cushion-style polished wood frame, possibly mahogany or a fruitwood, showing a warm medium-brown finish and a distinct wood grain. The frame is fitted with a narrow gilt-painted inner slip or liner surrounding the rectangular mirror plate. The reverse of the mirror is finished with a dark-stained wood backing board, incorporating a tapered easel stand attached by a central metal hinge. A white rectangular adhesive label is present on the easel stand, though the characters on it are not legible. The mirror is currently fitted with a later added cord for wall hanging, secured through two holes in the backing board. The construction style of the backing and the polished wooden frame are indicative of late 19th or early 20th-century manufacture.
Condition report:
The mirror plate is in good overall condition with no significant silvering loss or foxing visible in the reflection (photo 1). The wood frame shows minor surface abrasions and small nicks consistent with age and use (photo 1). The backing board and easel stand exhibit general wear and dust accumulation (photo 2). The later added hanging cord shows fraying at the knots (photo 2).
