A collection of costume jewellery brooches and pins featuring a diverse assortment of mid-to-late 20th-century styles. The lot includes several cased items: an oval metal brooch with an etched figural scene in a brown velvet-lined box marked H. SAMUEL FOR FINE JEWELLERY; two circular brooches in silver and gold-toned finishes housed in clear plastic cases marked Isabella LONDON ENGLAND; a gold-toned floral brooch with a large faceted green glass stone in a patterned square box; a silver-toned wishing well brooch with a moving bucket in a blue box; and a gold-toned filigree brooch set with green glass cabochons in a brown box.
The assortment also features loose pieces including a large sunburst brooch with turquoise-coloured cabochons, a textured gold-toned leaf, a heart-shaped pin set with a large pink faceted stone, and a square gold-toned brooch depicting St Paul’s Cathedral. Other designs include a National Trust pin marked FOUNDED 1895, an enamel fan-shaped brooch, a seahorse, and various floral sprays set with clear and aurora borealis coated glass rhinestones. The pieces are constructed from base metals with gold and silver-toned plating, utilising materials such as enamel, moulded plastic, and ceramic plaques.
Condition report:
The collection generally appears in good vintage condition. Visible tarnishing is present on the metal finishes of the Isabella circular pins and the St Paul\'s Cathedral brooch (photo 1). Minor surface scratches are visible on the clear plastic Isabella cases (photo 4). One small stone appears missing from the outer edge of the circular brooch set with a large blue glass stone (photo 2). The box for the green glass floral brooch shows some light wear to the edges (photo 4).
