A collection of cultured and costume pearl style jewellery, comprising multiple necklaces and a pair of earrings. The lot includes a single strand of graduated cream-toned imitation pearls with a silver-tone decorative clasp, housed in a cream-coloured presentation case with a lid interior bearing a crown logo and printed text reading Ciro of Bond Street London & New York. Also present is a multi-strand necklace of uniform cream-toned imitation pearls in a blue velvet-covered case, the interior lid featuring a crest and the printed words PERLAS MAJORICA. The assortment further contains a decorative collar-style necklace with teardrop-shaped imitation pearl drops in a long hinged case, a single strand of graduated imitation pearls with matching silver-tone clip-on or screw-back earrings in a gold-toned striped case, and a long multi-strand necklace of vibrant red-coloured imitation pearls with a floral-motif box clasp. Additional items include a strand of large irregular white baroque style imitation pearls with carved floral beads, a strand of uniform light-pink imitation pearls in a square cardboard box, and a further loose strand in a plastic bag. Accompanying ephemera includes a printed booklet titled YOUR Cultured Pearls HOW TO TAKE CARE OF THEM, and various vintage paper documents, one with a printed header for E. DINGLE & Co. Ltd DEPARTMENTAL STORES PLYMOUTH and another from THE BRITISH ANTIQUE DEALERS’ ASSOCIATION bearing the handwritten reference EJ11 2148 and the date 17/12/61.


Condition report:

The jewellery items are in vintage condition. The interior silk and velvet linings of the presentation cases show visible yellowing, staining, and foxing consistent with age (photo 1). Several silver-tone metal clasps exhibit surface tarnishing (photo 2). The red pearls show minor surface wear and occasional loss to the iridescent coating (photo 3). The accompanying paper ephemera is creased, yellowed, and shows light foxing.
