A pair of wrought metal garden plant stands of tiered construction, designed for outdoor floral display. This set comprises two matching units: one rectangular three-tier stand and one quarter-round three-tier corner stand. The items are constructed from dark green painted metal, featuring tubular or flat-bar frames with horizontal wire slats forming the shelves. The rectangular stand is built with a stepped profile, supported by vertical stiles and diagonal bracing, while the corner unit utilizes a curved, quarter-circle design to facilitate modular arrangement. No maker’s marks, labels, or backstamps are visible on the frames or joints.
Condition report:
Both plant stands exhibit significant and widespread surface rust and oxidation across the entire frame, particularly evident at the joints, feet, and horizontal slats (photo 1). The original dark green paint is heavily weathered, showing extensive flaking and loss, exposing the underlying metal to the elements (photo 2). Several connecting bolts and nuts show advanced corrosion (photo 3). There is visible bending and warping to some of the horizontal wire slats on both the rectangular and corner units (photo 4 and 6). The items show signs of long-term outdoor storage, including accumulation of dirt and biological residue (photo 7).
