This lot comprises a collection of miscellaneous antique and vintage collectibles, including a mantel clock, a leather shot flask, a ceramic cow creamer, and a group of postcards. The mantel clock features a stepped Art Deco silhouette with a mottled reddish-brown celluloid or early plastic body and an applied silver-tone metal chapter ring with Arabic numerals at the poles. The reverse shows a manual wind movement housed in a black-painted metal casing. The leather shot flask is embossed with a circular hunting scene depicting a figure and a canine, featuring a brass nozzle with a spring-loaded measuring mechanism. The nozzle collar is marked with impressed characters reading lb 5/8 and the scale indicates OZ, 1 1/4, and 1 1/2; it contains a quantity of lead shot. The ceramic cow creamer is finished in a black glaze with gilded accents to the horns and tail, resting on an integral oval base. The collection of ephemera consists of various black and white, sepia, and colour postcards depicting landmarks in Plymouth, including Tinside Swimming Pool and the Barbican, along with a printed card titled The Nations’ Call.
Condition report:
The mantel clock shows heavy oxidation and surface rust to the rear metal casing and is missing both the hour and minute hands (photo 3). The leather shot flask shows significant surface wear, cracking to the leather, and heavy oxidation to the brass components (photo 4 and 5). The cow creamer exhibits minor gilt loss to the horns and tail (photo 6). The postcards show typical age-related toning, minor foxing, and corner wear consistent with age (photo 7).
