Sold for: £3
A collection of vintage style die-cast metal commercial and passenger vehicles, primarily representing designs from the 1920s and 1930s. The group includes various delivery vans, an ambulance, and open-top automobiles constructed with die-cast bodies and plastic chassis, wheels, and interior components. Many pieces feature colourful lithograph-style transfers for British commercial brands including Boots Quality Products, Hamleys, Ever Ready, and Cadbury’s Dairy Milk Chocolate. Notable models include a Mansfield Brewery flatbed truck with a barrel load, a L.C.C. Ambulance, and a Sunday Express van with a historical headline. Several chassis are marked to the underside with printed or moulded text including LLEDO, MADE IN ENGLAND, and DAYS GONE. At least one model bears a base marking reading Oxford Diecast, MADE IN GT. BRITAIN, By Lledo. All vehicles are free-wheeling and displayed without original packaging.
Condition report:
The collection is in a used, displayed condition without boxes. Most models exhibit bright paintwork and clear transfers, though scattered small chips to the paint are visible on the edges of the metal bodies and some surface dust is present across the group (photos 1 and 2). The red open-top vintage car shows a slightly misaligned or bent windshield frame (photo 1). Light tarnishing is visible on several of the chrome-effect plastic radiator grilles and bumpers (photo 3). The wheels appear to rotate freely on the examples where the undersides are shown (photo 4).
