A collection of German banknotes dating from the early 20th century and the Weimar Republic era, issued by the Reichsbank and Darlehenskasse. The group comprises various denominations including a Fünfzig Mark note dated 21. April 1910 featuring green and pink guilloche patterns with female portraits, and a Fünfhundert Mark note dated 7. Juli 1922. Also included is a blue and grey 100 Mark note with a red seal, a 10 Mark note dated 6. Februar 1920, and a 2 Mark Darlehenskassenschein. The notes are printed in traditional German Fraktur script and carry various printed signatures from the Reichsbankdirektorium. Several notes feature printed serial numbers including D-6939701, D-4673379, and Nr 83. The paper shows significant signs of age and historical circulation.
Condition report:
The banknotes are in circulated condition, generally ranging from Good to Fine. Visible defects include heavy creasing and multiple vertical and horizontal folds across all notes (photo 1). There is significant foxing, staining, and browning of the paper consistent with age (photo 3). Several notes show frayed edges, minor losses, and small tears along the margins, particularly noticeable on the 500 Mark note (photo 3). The paper appears brittle with softened corners and edges throughout the collection.
