Sold for: £30
A set of five pieces comprising four matching dining chairs and a rectangular drop-leaf table. The set is constructed from a light-coloured hardwood, possibly beech or oak, featuring a clear satin finish. The chairs are of ladder-back design, each with three slightly curved horizontal slats and a seat constructed from five longitudinal wooden planks. The frames utilise squared-off legs joined by H-pattern stretchers with visible mortise and tenon joinery. The table is a gate-leg drop-leaf design, featuring a central fixed rectangular section and two hinged side leaves. The leaves are supported by pull-out wooden brackets when extended. A small white adhesive label is present on the underside of one table leaf, though any characters upon it are not legible. This lot comprises the table and four chairs only; the ladder, cabinets, and other background items shown in the images are not included.
Condition report:
The set exhibits surface wear consistent with domestic use. There are scattered surface scratches and several water rings or moisture stains to the tabletop (photo 4 and 5). A dark circular mark is visible on the central table surface (photo 2). The chair frames appear structurally sound, although the finish shows signs of dryness and minor indentations to the edges of the seats and back slats (photo 7 and 9). The floor-facing ends of the table and chair legs show typical scuffing from contact with the ground.
