A collection of vintage haberdashery and sewing supplies, primarily comprising approximately 60 to 70 thread spools housed in two cardboard boxes. The assortment features a large quantity of Dewhurst’s Sylko Machine Twist on wooden and plastic spools in various colours including lupin, turquoise, clematis, fawn, and khaki. Visible labels on the spool ends are printed with the brand names “SYLKO” and “DEWHURST’S” alongside a “THREE SHELLS” device and the text “MACHINE TWIST” and “FAST DYE”. The collection includes a card-style spool of mending wool with a printed blue and white label reading “OAK TREE ALL WOOL MENDING”. Also present is a retail box of Velcro brand fasteners, with the packaging marked “HEAVY DUTY STICK ON TAPE”, and a large roll of black elastic webbing. Accompanying tools include a pair of vintage metal fabric shears and a rotary leather punch tool. The lot is completed by vintage paper ephemera, including a Sirdar knitting pattern numbered 789 titled “GROWING UP IN SIRDAR”, priced at 1/6 (7 1/2p), featuring children’s hat designs.

Condition report:

The collection shows signs of age and previous use throughout. The thread spools vary in volume from full to near-empty (photo 1). The metal tools, specifically the fabric shears and the rotary punch, exhibit significant surface oxidation and heavy rust across all metal components (photo 4). The Velcro retail box shows shelf wear, creasing, and partial opening (photo 1). The knitting pattern is housed in a plastic sleeve but displays visible yellowing and edge wear consistent with its age (photo 2). All items are loosely packed within two cardboard boxes.
