A set of twenty Three pieces of mid-century modern Denby stoneware coffee service, comprising a tall coffee pot, six coffee cups, six saucers, seven side plates, and a small cream jug. The set is constructed from dark chocolate brown stoneware with a satin to matte exterior finish and a pale, smooth contrasting interior glaze to the cups. The service features a stylised floral and geometric wheel or sunburst motif in earthy tones of olive green, ochre, and orange. The coffee pot is of a tall, tapered form with a distinctive short spout, a large loop handle, and a flat-topped lid. The coffee cups are cylindrical with small loop handles, matching the aesthetic of the circular saucers and plates. No manufacturer marks, backstamps, or country-of-origin labels are visible on the pieces.
Condition report:
The service is in good vintage condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs to the coffee pot, jug, or saucers. There is a minor degree of surface wear and light scratching consistent with age and use on the faces of the side plates (photo 2). One plate shows a small area of white residue or surface scuffing near the centre (photo 2). The interior glaze of the cups appears intact without significant staining (photo 3).
