A pair of large contemporary art glass vases, each executed in heavy-gauge blown glass with a weighted base. These vases are of a tall ovoid or baluster form featuring a flared rim and a thick clear glass casing. The interior decoration consists of a deep black ground embellished with a metallic aventurine pattern in copper or gold tones. This pattern resembles pebble-like leopard spots at the neck, which transition into elongated feathered streaks towards the base. The underside of each vase is finished with a flat, polished pontil mark. Three small irregular dollops of metallic-coloured glass are visible within the base structure of the glass, though no maker’s marks, signatures, or country of origin marks are legible on the surface. A small yellow adhesive label is visible on the rim of one vase, however, the handwritten text upon it is not legible.
Condition report:
Both vases appear to be in overall good condition with no visible chips or cracks. Light surface shelf-wear is present on the underside of the polished bases (photo 3). One vase shows minor manufacturing inclusions in the form of small air bubbles within the thick clear casing, which is a characteristic feature of hand-blown glass rather than a defect (photo 2).
