A collection of four landscape studies executed in watercolour on paper, presented in double mounts and wood-effect frames. The group includes a village view of Buckland Monachorum, Devon, executed in line and wash, signed in the lower left A. George Wortelhock 1998; an adhesive label to the verso reads Buckland Monachorum, Devon Line and Watercolour by A. George Wortelhock 1998. Also included is a garden study from The Garden House, Buckland Monachorum, signed FREDA ISAAC 97 in the lower right; a verso label identifies the artist and location as BUCKLAND MONACHORUM FROM THE GARDEN HOUSE FREDA ISAAC VIRGINIA COTTAGE AVY RD TAVISTOCK PL19 0TE, accompanied by a small gold retailer label for Lesley Wo… Picture F… Tavistock. The collection is completed by a study of a rusted tractor in a field titled Out to Grass in ink on the mount and signed C. Loman in the lower right, and a river landscape signed in red paint Doris Rowe to the lower right. The subjects are rendered in a naturalist style, characteristic of contemporary West Country regional art.
Condition report:
The four watercolours appear in good condition with no visible signs of foxing, moisture ingress, or significant fading (photo 1). The paper shows minor toning consistent with the dates of execution. The mounts are clean and free from acid burn. The wood-effect frames are stable but show minor scuffs and light shelf wear to the corners and edges (photos 2, 4, and 6).
