A collection of ceramic animal figurines featuring a distinctive drip glaze finish. The group comprises various animal subjects including a large dolphin on a wave-form base, a seated bear, an owl, a reclining foal, a seated seal, a seated goose, a cat, and several smaller dolphins in leaping poses. The items are constructed from earthenware, with red clay visible on the unglazed base of the largest dolphin. The glaze palette is primarily composed of flowing cobalt blue and black tones, with some examples in turquoise green and black.
Two figurines have attached blue card swing tags with a circular mountain logo reading MADE IN CANADA, FABRIQUÉ AU CANADA, and BLUE MOUNTAIN POTTERY. The tags also state THE BLUE MOUNTAIN COLLECTION • LA COLLECTION DE LA MONTAGNE BLEUE, with an address in COLLINGWOOD, ONTARIO, CANADA L9Y 3Z8 and a red maple leaf symbol. A circular adhesive label on one of the smaller dolphins bears a matching mountain logo and reads BLUE MOUNTAIN POTTERY MADE IN CANADA. The underside of the large dolphin is unglazed at the rim, showing a black-glazed interior with visible drip marks.
Condition report:
The collection appears to be in good overall condition with a high-gloss finish maintained throughout. No chips, cracks, or restorations are visible on the exterior surfaces (photo 1, 2, 4). The unglazed base of the large dolphin shows minor shelf wear and some inherent roughness to the red clay rim (photo 3).
