This lot comprises two wall mirrors of varying styles. The first is a large rectangular mirror featuring an ornate Rococo style frame. The frame is constructed from a molded composite material or resin with an antiqued bronzed finish. It is decorated with a repetitive fan-leaf border and a prominent top crest comprising scrolling acanthus leaves and stylized floral motifs. The reverse is fitted with a brown textured hardboard panel secured by screws and includes a white hanging cord. The second item is a modern rectangular wall mirror with a simple mahogany coloured wood or wood-effect frame featuring tiered molding. A white adhesive label with the handwritten alphanumeric code C1337R is present on the lower-left corner of the larger mirror’s plate and a similar label is visible on the upper-right corner of the smaller mirror.
Condition report:
The larger Rococo style mirror shows significant and widespread silvering loss, oxidisation, and heavy foxing across approximately 60-70% of the glass plate surface (photos 1 and 2). There is minor surface dust and light wear to the high points of the molded frame decoration (photo 4). The smaller mahogany-effect mirror plate appears clear and in good condition (photo 3), with only minor surface scuffs to the frame edges.
