Buyer's Premium: 20%

Sold for: £5

A pair of matching large-format ornate wooden picture frames with a lime-washed or distressed cream finish. Each frame is constructed with a wide profile featuring a deep-relief scrolling acanthus leaf pattern on the outer edge and a rope-twist border on the inner edge. Both frames are fitted with multi-layered cream mounts featuring silver-toned inner fillets. One frame contains a hand-coloured map titled Environs of Plymouth & Devonport, which includes a hand-coloured coat of arms for Plymouth at the top left and an inset view of Plymouth Citadel at the bottom right. The map includes a printed scale of miles. A small white adhesive label on the mount is hand-inscribed Engraved Hand-Col Date 1838 No 9389 Left RA. The second frame is currently empty, showing a brown backing board.

Condition report:

The map is loose within the mount and is protected by a plastic wrap (photo 4). The frames show minor surface wear, dust, and small cosmetic marks to the lime-washed finish consistent with age and handling (photo 1). The mounts appear generally clean with no significant staining visible. Both frames appear structurally sound.
