A pair of framed limited edition equestrian prints after original oil paintings by Maxine Cox. The first print, titled Lester’s Return, depicts the jockey Lester Piggott winning at Chepstow on 16th October 1990 aboard the horse Nicholas, trained by Susan Piggott. The lower left margin is inscribed in pencil with the fraction 581/850, and the lower right margin bears a pencil signature reading Maxine Cox. Centrally printed text below the image describes the event. The second print, titled Barnbrook Again and Desert Orchid, depicts two racehorses in a winter setting. The lower left margin is inscribed in pencil 49/250 AP, indicating its status as an artist’s proof. Within the image, a printed signature reads MAX 1990. The lower right margin features a pencil signature reading Maxine Cox. Both works are professionally presented in triple-layered mounts; one is housed in a reddish-brown wood-effect frame and the other in a silver-toned frame with a greenish-grey wash.
Condition report:
Both prints appear to be in good condition behind glass with no visible foxing or fading. The reddish-brown frame shows a minor scuff or nick on the bottom edge (photo 2). The silver-toned frame and the mounts of both items appear to be in good condition with no significant wear visible (photo 1, photo 6).
