A collection of silver and enamel souvenir jewellery comprising a charm bracelet and several brooches. The bracelet is a double curb link chain featuring a large quantity of shield-shaped enamel charms representing various locations including Basel, Valais, Geneve, Port Isaac, Boscastle, Westward Ho!, and Rhyl. The reverse of the charms feature various marks including the word SILVER in block capitals, STERLING in block capitals, and a small rectangular cartouche containing a lion passant mark. Some charms bear maker marks including the characters CHAM. The assortment of brooches includes three shield pins for Valais, Suisse, and Geneve; a crest pin for Montreux; a figural Grindelwald pin featuring an ice axe, edelweiss flower, and a functional cowbell with a red bead clapper; and two larger brooches shaped like ice axes with rope detailing, one featuring a St. Bernard souvenir shield. Several pieces bear legible SILVER or STERLING stamps to the reverse.
Condition report:
The collection shows signs of wear and age-related tarnishing throughout (photo 2). Several enamel shields exhibit minor surface pitting and small chips to the edges, most notably on the Geneve charm (photo 1). The metal surfaces display fine scratches and areas of oxidation consistent with age (photo 3). The pin mechanisms are intact, although the pin on one ice axe brooch appears slightly bent (photo 2). The cowbell clapper is present and functional.
