Sold for: £200
A collection of studio ceramic objects and jewellery featuring hand-painted figurative and abstract decorations. The group comprises a scent bottle, two wall-mounting spoon-form plaques, and two pieces of wearable jewellery. The ceramic bodies are finished in a glossy glaze, with the decorative objects featuring whimsical, stylised female faces and harlequin patterns. The jewellery pieces include a large navette-shaped brooch with raised enamel dots in the moriage style and a small blue leaf-shaped component. Both spoon-form plaques are hand-painted to the interior with the artist’s name and date in black script reading AMANDA POPHAM 2001. The reverse of the navette brooch is unglazed white ceramic and is fitted with a gold-toned metal pin-back secured by adhesive.
Condition report:
The collection is in good overall condition with no visible cracks or significant chips to the ceramic bodies (photos 1 and 6). The hand-painted glazes remain bright and intact across all pieces. There is some visible yellowing and excess adhesive residue around the metal plate of the pin-back on the large navette brooch (photo 8). The suspension holes on the spoon handles appear clean and undamaged (photos 2 and 4).
