Sold for: £6
Two decorative items comprising a modern floor vase with botanical display and an embossed metal fire screen. The floor vase is constructed from a dark, black-tapered material, possibly wood or composite, containing an arrangement of dried brown grass-like stems interspersed with small, light-coloured seed pods. The vintage style fire screen is formed from a rectangular sheet of embossed metal, likely brass or copper-plated steel, featuring a central relief of a crowing cockerel. The panel is embossed with the text TAKE to the left and COURAGE to the right of the central figure. The motif is framed by a border of embossed hops and leaves. The screen is supported by two simple metal feet. A small white adhesive label is visible on the upper neck of the black vase, though the characters are not clearly legible.
Height: 155 cm (total height of vase and botanical display).
Condition report:
The floor vase and botanical display appear in good condition with no visible damage to the vessel or dried elements (photo 1). The fire screen exhibits a heavy greenish-blue verdigris patina to the front surface, particularly within the recessed hop border (photo 2). The reverse of the fire screen shows significant surface oxidation and heavy rust across the entire steel sheet (photo 3). One of the support feet shows signs of corrosion (photo 3).
