A pair of 9ct yellow gold chain-link cufflinks by Payton, Pepper Ltd. Each cufflink consists of two rectangular panels with canted corners, connected by a five-link chain. The front face of each panel is decorated with an engine-turned cross-hatched pattern within a raised border, while the reverse is polished plain. The reverse of each panel is struck with a series of hallmarks, including the ‘9’ and ‘.375’ purity marks denoting 9 carat gold, the anchor symbol for the Birmingham Assay Office, and the date letter ‘D’ in a square shield. The maker’s mark ‘PPLd’ for Payton, Pepper Ltd is also present on each panel.
