This lot consists of two woven storage pieces. The first is a kidney-shaped ottoman or laundry basket manufactured by Lusty Lloyd Loom. It is constructed from characteristic woven paper-wrapped wire over a wooden frame. The piece features a padded hinged lid upholstered in a red and cream floral damask stripe fabric. A metal maker’s label is attached to the interior rim, embossed with LLOYD LOOM, REGD TRADE MARK, a Lusty product. The second item is a rectangular storage chest made from heavy woven seagrass or similar natural fibre. It includes integrated rope handles at either end and a hinged lid. The interior is lined with a white fabric that is secured to the frame with pins.
Condition report:
The Lloyd Loom ottoman exhibits significant fraying and wear to the upholstery around the edges of the lid. The woven body remains structurally sound, though the metal hinges show signs of oxidation. The seagrass trunk shows general wear to the natural fibre consistent with age and use. The interior fabric lining of the trunk displays surface soiling and staining.
