Estimated price: £5 - £10

Buyer's Premium:

A mid-20th-century banjo-style wall-mounted weather station, featuring a mahogany-finished wooden case. The case is designed with a swan-neck pediment and a central brass urn finial. The unit incorporates three scientific instruments: an aneroid barometer, a thermometer, and a hygrometer. The central barometer dial is silvered with black markings, measuring atmospheric pressure in millibars (960 to 1060 hPa) and centimetres of mercury (72 to 79 cmHg). The dial is inscribed West-Germany at the base and includes standard weather indications: Stormy, Rain, Change, Fair, and Very Dry. It features a black indicator needle and a brass-toned reference hand. The neck of the case houses a vertical liquid-in-glass thermometer with dual scales for Celsius (0 to 50 degrees) and Fahrenheit (20 to 120 degrees). The base features a circular hygrometer dial measuring relative humidity from 0 to 100 percent, with a marked normal range. The reverse of the case includes an adjustment screw for the barometer movement and a wall-mounting aperture.

Condition report:

The weather station appears to be in good vintage condition. The wooden case shows minor surface wear and light scuffing consistent with age and use. The metal components and glass covers are intact and the dials remain clear. The accuracy and working order of the internal mechanical movements are untested.
