A mid-century modern coffee table, circa 1970s, attributed to G-Plan. The table features a teak frame with a rectangular top divided into two distinct sections. The first section contains four inset ceramic tiles arranged in a square, featuring a relief-moulded geometric and foliate pattern in earth tones of orange, brown, and cream. The second, larger section consists of an inset panel of smoked glass. The frame is constructed with rounded outer edges and is supported by a trestle-style base. The base comprises two shaped Y-end supports connected by a low-slung, rounded central stretcher. While the design is characteristic of British furniture manufacturer G-Plan, no maker’s marks or labels are visible on the piece.
Condition report:
The table is in good vintage condition overall. The teak frame displays minor surface wear, scuffs, and light scratches consistent with age and domestic use. The inset smoked glass panel exhibits some light surface scratching. The decorative ceramic tiles are intact with no visible cracks or significant chips. The structure remains sound and stable.
