Buyer's Premium:

This lot consists of three items of British military interest. The first item is a Royal Marines Commando green wool beret. It is fitted with a darkened bronze-finish cap badge depicting the globe within a laurel wreath, surmounted by a St Edward’s crown, dating the badge to the post-1952 period. The beret is finished with a black leather binding at the base. The second item is a modern service respirator, resembling the Avon FM12. The black moulded rubber facepiece features twin circular eyepieces and a central speech diaphragm and exhaust valve assembly. It is fitted with a single black canister filter to the left side and features a multi-point adjustable head harness. The number 2 is embossed on the forehead, and the filter has a handwritten white character 6. The third item is a vintage anti-gas respirator, characteristic of mid-20th-century British service or civilian designs. It features a single rectangular viewing window with a stitched tan fabric frame and a rubberised fabric body. This item is housed in an associated brown cardboard box.

Condition report:

The beret and badge are in good vintage condition with minor surface dust and light wear. The modern respirator appears to be in good condition with supple rubber; the lenses show some minor scuffing. The vintage respirator shows significant signs of age and deterioration; the rubberised fabric is perishing and stiffening at the edges, and the lens shows clouding and discoloration. These items are sold as historical collectibles only and are not intended for functional use. Modern and vintage respirator filters may contain hazardous materials and should not be worn or used.
