A late 20th-century solid pine two-piece Welsh dresser in a traditional country style. The upper section comprises an open three-tier plate rack with decoratively shaped side supports and a shaped top frieze, finished with a tongue-and-groove pine back. The base section is configured with three drawers arranged horizontally over a three-door cupboard, with the interior divided by vertical partitions. The unit is fitted with simple turned pine knobs throughout. Construction features include machine-cut dovetail joints to the drawers and magnetic catches to the cupboard doors. The drawers are currently lined with various floral and damask patterned papers. The piece is constructed from knotty pine with a clear finish.
Condition report:
The dresser is structurally sound and in good functional order. The top surface of the base section exhibits several prominent circular water marks, dark stains, and light surface scratches consistent with domestic use. The drawers are lined with adhesive or loose decorative paper. There are minor indentations and general wear to the finish commensurate with age throughout the piece.
