This mid-century modern dining suite comprises a drop-leaf pedestal table and a set of two hoop-back spindle chairs. The suite is constructed from solid light-toned woods, featuring elm for the tabletop and chair seats, and beech for the frames, legs, and spindles, finished in a clear natural lacquer. The chairs are designed in the Windsor style, featuring steam-bent hoops, tapered spindles, and contoured saddle seats. The legs are turned and joined by H-frame stretchers, with the leg-to-seat connections utilising visible wedge joints. The table features an oval top with two drop-leaf sections, supported by a central pedestal base terminating in four out-swept legs. There are no maker marks or labels clearly legible, though a circular indentation is present on the underside of one chair seat where a label may have previously been affixed.
Condition report:
The suite is in fair condition with sound structural integrity. The tabletop displays multiple light surface scratches and abrasions, alongside faint circular water marks and localised staining. The chair seats exhibit finish wear and thinning to the centres. Minor scuffs and small indentations are visible on the table and chair legs, consistent with age and use. Light grime is present within the crevices of the spindle joints.
