Start price: £6

Estimated price: £6 - £26

Buyer's Premium:

A comprehensive collection of United Kingdom pre-decimal coinage, primarily spanning the mid-20th century reigns of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth II. The assembly is housed in multiple COINDEX plastic album sheets and includes significant date runs for denominations such as half crowns, florins (two shillings), one shilling (categorised by English and Scottish reverse designs), sixpences, and pennies. The collection represents the transition from .500 silver coinage (pre-1947) to cupro-nickel (post-1946), alongside standard bronze issues. Notable commemorative specimens include a 1951 Festival of Britain crown and a 1965 Winston Churchill crown. The lot also features a multi-coin link bracelet composed of small silver-coloured coins and a small gold-coloured coin bearing the effigy of Elizabeth II. Obverse designs include the uncrowned portrait of George VI and the laureate portrait of Elizabeth II. Reverse motifs include various heraldic shields, the Golden Hind, and Britannia.

Condition report:

The coins are in generally circulated condition, exhibiting varying degrees of wear, surface marks, and edge knocks consistent with age and use. Natural toning and oxidation are present on both the silver-coloured and bronze specimens. The plastic album sheets show age-related yellowing and minor tearing. The coin bracelet and commemorative crowns show moderate surface wear and toning.
