A group of three items including an A. E. Taylor pictorial map and a Walter Langley exhibition poster. This lot comprises an unframed exhibition poster for Walter Langley featuring a reproduction of the painting The Greeting. The poster carries the printed text WALTER LANGLEY PIONEER OF THE NEWLYN ART COLONY and indicates the exhibition originated by Penlee House Gallery & Museum, Penzance, Cornwall. The second item is a decorative pictorial map titled PICTORIAL PLAN OF THE WEST COUNTRY, printed on a silver foil ground. The map illustrates the counties of Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Wiltshire, and Dorset with various historical vignettes and heraldic shields. It is marked to the lower right corner A. E. TAYLOR ’32 and is housed in a simple light wood frame. The third item is a circular wall mirror featuring a hammered copper-finish frame. The frame is embellished with four applied, dark-patinated knotwork motifs in an Arts and Crafts style.
Condition report:
The exhibition poster shows minor handling creases and light wear to the edges (photo 1). The silver foil map print appears well-preserved with no visible oxidation or foxing to the surface, while the frame shows minor scuffing (photo 4). The circular wall mirror glass is clear, and the copper-finish frame shows a light aged patina and minor surface tarnish (photo 2).
