Sold for: £10
This lot comprises a cast iron boot scraper and a collection of coir replacement brushes. The scraper is constructed from heavy-weight cast iron featuring a rectangular base supported on four bun feet. The functional base integrates a central metal scraper blade, a recessed section containing black bristles, and an open four-slot grate for debris. A slender metal stability pole rises from the centre of the unit, terminating in a spherical ball finial. The cast iron displays an oxidised surface with a dark patina consistent with utility use. The accompanying collection of wire-backed, brown coir bristle replacement brushes includes various sizes designed for utility footwear cleaning. No manufacturer’s marks or foundry stamps are legible on the casting. This lot comprises the boot scraper and brushes only; the furniture and other background items shown in the images are not included.
Condition report:
The cast iron base and stability pole show significant surface oxidation and a dark weathered patina consistent with outdoor use (photo 1). The integrated black bristle brush displays wear and thinning (photo 2). The accompanying collection of brown coir replacement brushes shows loose fibres and some distortion to the wire backings (photo 3). No structural cracks or breaks are visible to the cast iron components.
