A mid-20th century dark-stained wooden standard lamp with a large fringed fabric shade. The lamp is constructed from dark-stained wood, possibly oak, and features a square-section vertical stem decorated with a recessed panel of carved repeating floral motifs. The structure stands on a stepped square base with a matching carved foliate border. It is fitted with a large, multi-paneled peach-coloured fabric shade of a traditional flared form, featuring a scalloped lower rim decorated with a maroon braid trim and a deep, off-white fringe. The lamp is equipped with a brown twin-core flex and a white plastic inline thumb switch. The switch bears a printed stylized arrow or V symbol, with technical specifications below it that are not clearly legible. This lot comprises the standard lamp only; the sofa, refrigerator, brass bedstead, and other background items shown in the images are not included.
Condition report:
The wooden base and stem show minor surface scuffs, scratches, and general wear consistent with age and use (photo 2 and 3). The fabric shade shows light surface marks, minor dust accumulation, and some fraying to the fringe (photo 4). As with all electrical items, this piece should be professionally tested and rewired by a qualified electrician to ensure compliance with current safety standards before being put into use.
