A pair of mid-twentieth century Chinese style embroidered silk panels. Each panel is hand-embroidered in polychrome silk threads on a vibrant turquoise-blue silk ground, depicting traditional festive scenes populated by numerous figures, a theme known as Hundred Boys. The first panel illustrates a dragon boat festival with two large, tiered dragon-headed boats, smaller rowing craft, and swimmers. Two vertical red banners on the dragon boats bear three embroidered characters in black thread reading ‘百子图’. The second panel depicts land and water activities, including a dragon dance, children playing near a pavilion, and figures on a bridge over a lotus pond. Both panels feature white inner borders with small, repeated blue embroidered motifs. The embroideries are set within wide, patterned fabric mounts featuring a geometric floral design and are housed in matching gilt-finished faux-bamboo frames under glass.

Condition report:

The embroideries appear in good overall condition with vibrant thread colours and no visible evidence of fading, tearing, or water damage through the glass. Large horizontal reflections from overhead fluorescent lighting are visible across the glass surfaces in all provided photographs (photos 1, 2, and 3). The gilt-finished faux-bamboo frames show minor surface scuffing and light wear to the finish consistent with age (photo 1).
