A collection of British royal commemorative ceramics and ephemera including various twentieth and twenty-first century examples. The group features a bone china lidded trinket box for the 2002 Golden Jubilee, marked to the underside with a crown and royal cypher above a Union Jack and red text reading www.aynsley.co.uk Made in England Aynsley Bone China Hand Painted Staffordshire. Also included is a small bone china dish listing the Kings and Queens of England, marked Est. 1775 Aynsley Made in England Fine English Bone China. A group of ceramic mugs comprises two Royal Winton examples marked Grimwades Made in England, a George VI and Queen Elizabeth 1937 coronation mug, a 1977 Silver Jubilee mug marked Aynsley, and a vitrified ironstone drum-shaped mug marked A Replica of the Household Division Drum Especially made for the Elsenham Jam Company by England’s Oldest Pottery Bristol Pottery Established 1652 Royal Cauldon Bristol. Further ceramic items include two octagonal creamware plates for the 1937 coronation marked with an oil lamp device and Ivory England, a small crimped bowl with the crest of Natal marked W.H. Goss, and a ceramic decanter with a transfer print titled Landing of the Pilgrims marked Copeland Spode England. A textile portrait of Prince Charles is contained within plastic packaging.
Condition report:
The octagonal coronation plates show minor surface wear and crazing consistent with age (photo 1). The Aynsley Kings and Queens dish has dark marking and shelf wear to the foot rim (photo 4). The Copeland Spode decanter cork is present but appears dry and brittle (photo 5). The W.H. Goss bowl shows surface dirt and ring marks to the underside (photo 6). The Silver Jubilee mug (1977) has a brown stain to the interior rim (photo 11). The tea towel remains unopened in its original plastic packaging (photo 1). No other significant chips or cracks are visible across the collection.
