This lot comprises two framed Gerald Coulson offset lithographic landscape prints. The first, titled Quiet Forest, depicts a large stag in a misty autumnal woodland clearing. The lower margin of this print features printed text reading QUIET FOREST by Gerald Coulson, and a signature reading COULSON is printed in the lower right area of the image. The reverse of the frame bears a yellow adhesive label printed with PIC7840 QUIET FOREST. The second print portrays a winter landscape featuring a solitary figure walking a dog along a tree-lined lane towards a distant church tower, with light snow on the ground. A printed signature reading COULSON appears in the lower left corner of the scene. Both works are presented in dark wood-effect frames with gilt-toned inner slips and are protected by glass. The paper for both prints exhibits visible age-related toning, particularly to the margins.
Condition report:
Both prints show signs of age-related toning to the paper margins (photo 2 and 6). The frame for the Quiet Forest print remains in relatively good condition with only minor surface scuffs. The frame for the winter landscape print exhibits significant wear, including visible losses to the wood-grain finish along the bottom edge (photo 7). The adhesive tape securing the backing board of the deer print is yellowed and peeling (photo 4). No foxing, handling creases, or damage to the glass is visible from the photographs provided.
