A collection of silver-plated and metal decorative items including Hinz & Kunst and Van Houten examples. This lot comprises a large oval silver-plated gallery tray featuring a pierced openwork rim and a central field engraved with foliate and scroll motifs. The collection also includes a cylindrical lithographed advertising tin for Van Houten Cacao, decorated with a man and woman in historical attire. The group is further composed of a contemporary industrial metal sculpture of a person walking a dog, assembled from nuts and bolts, and a pair of four tall silver-toned candlesticks with fluted cups and twisted wire-effect stems on circular stepped bases. A decorative damascene style wall plate with a central patinated field depicting birds and flowering vines completes the group. The industrial sculpture bears a rectangular plaque stamped Original Hinz & Kunst Germany, and the advertising tin is printed with VAN HOUTEN CACAO in a stylised script.
Condition report:
The gallery tray shows a prominent patch of tarnish or plating wear in the centre (photo 5) and further oxidation around the interior edge of the gallery. The Van Houten tin has visible wear to the paint and lithography, particularly around the lid edges and seams (photo 5). The four silver-toned candlesticks display significant surface tarnish and oxidation (photo 3). The decorative wall plate outer rim is heavily tarnished and oxidised, showing deep copper and brown tones, with visible wear to the central inlaid design (photo 2). The Hinz & Kunst sculpture appears in good condition with a natural industrial finish (photo 3).
