Start price: £5

Estimated price: £5 - £10

Buyer's Premium: 20%

Sold for: £2

A collection of six Victorian style porcelain fairings, each constructed from white glazed porcelain featuring polychrome overglaze enamel decoration. The group comprises various humorous social scenes, including a spill vase titled MODESTY depicting a man peeking through a keyhole, and domestic scenes titled LOOSE PINS and FATHERS JOY. The collection also features a bed scene titled SHALL WE SHEEP FIRST OR I HOUR and groups titled ONE TOO MAN! and THE GOSSIPS. Each piece is decorated with hand-painted details in green, pink, blue, and red, with titles printed in black lettering on the front of the bases. Several titles exhibit characteristic contemporary manufacturing spelling variations. The bases are finished with gold-tone scrolling accents. No manufacturer marks, factory stamps, or signatures are visible on the exterior bodies of the pieces.

Condition report:

Significant rubbing and loss to the overglaze paint is visible across all pieces, particularly affecting the facial features and the dark pigments of the hats and garments (photo 1). Small flea-bite chips and minor scuffing are present along the edges of the porcelain bases (photo 4). There is general shelf-soiling evident throughout, most notably in the recessed areas of the modelling. The figurines appear structurally sound with no large cracks or visible signs of repair.
