Estimated price: £10 - £20

Buyer's Premium: 20%

Sold for: £90

A collection of late 1950s British glamour and pin-up magazines including titles such as Fiesta, Carnival, Spick, and Gina. This lot comprises a group of vintage publications produced in the United Kingdom, typically priced between one shilling and threepence and two shillings and sixpence. The magazines are printed via offset lithography and feature photographic studies of female models in swimwear, lingerie, and artistic poses. Specific editions include a Fiesta issue from October 1958, a Spick number four magazine featuring a cover story titled Sophia’s Double, and a 1957 Autumn Special of Carnival dedicated to Italian glamour. The assortment also contains a monochrome booklet or back cover titled Au Revoir — but not Goodbye! which depicts a model in high heels and stockings. These items are representative of mid-20th-century British glamour photography and social history.

Condition report:

The collection is in mixed condition with wear consistent with age and handling. Significant paper loss and tearing are visible to the top right corner of the Spick number four cover (photo 4). The New Carnival cover displays horizontal creasing and surface scuffing (photo 5). The Fiesta magazine shows minor edge fraying and corner creasing (photo 2). Surface staining and light foxing are evident on the white borders of the Au Revoir booklet (photo 3). General creasing, bumped corners, and minor age-related discolouration are present across the publications.
