This lot comprises one Victorian mahogany side chair in the Jacobean Revival style. The chair is constructed from solid mahogany and features a pedimented crest rail flanked by two turned ball finials atop the stiles. The backrest is designed with a single recessed rectangular panel framed by plain rails, positioned above a seat made from two solid mahogany planks with a rounded front edge. The piece is supported by two ring and bobbin turned front legs terminating in ball feet, and two square-sectioned, slightly flared rear legs. The construction utilizes traditional mortise and tenon joinery throughout. This lot comprises the chair only; the books, shelving, white goods, and other household items shown in the background are not included.

Condition report:

The chair shows significant surface wear and fading to the finish on the seat (photo 1) and the upper edge of the crest rail (photo 2). General scuffs, scratches, and minor indentations are visible across the mahogany frame (photo 1). The reverse of the backrest displays an area of uneven, darker staining or finish residue (photo 3). The join between the two seat planks is visible, though the chair remains structurally stable (photo 1).
